Newborn Services

Drs. Thomas, Moore, and Norris see newborn babies at Northside and Piedmont hospitals. All you have to do is provide your obstetrician or the hospital with our name and the hospital will call us when your baby is born. Your baby will be seen within 24 hours, and we try to come the same day when possible.

Your baby will get a full exam and the doctor will review records from your pregnancy and delivery. After your baby's exam the doctor will see you to discuss how your baby is doing, provide advice, and answer any questions you have. We expect you will have lots of questions, and want to feel comfortable asking them. Knowing what is going on with your baby and how to care for him or her is very important.

Your baby will be examined each day you are in the hospital, and the doctor will visit with you also each day. Your baby will be in the office typically the day after discharge from the hospital. We find this is especially helpful for our breastfeeding moms as we can make sure the baby is having adequate feeding and provide advice and encouragement so the breast feeding is successful.

If your baby is born at a different hospital, just call us and make an appointment to be seen 1-2 days after discharge. Feel free to call any time during your pregnancy if you have any questions or concerns, or if your baby is having any issues we need to be aware of.

Thank you for entrusting us with the care of your baby.
